Your First Flying Lessons Near Fayetteville, GA

  • Hands-on flight with a certified instructor
  • Tour of our Cessna 172 training fleet
  • Time to ask questions about training
  • No obligation to enroll afterward

Fayetteville is the county seat of Fayette County, and Speedway Flight Training welcomes students from across the county at our base at Atlanta Speedway Airport (KHMP) in neighboring Henry County. For a first-time flyer, the best way to know whether aviation is right for you is to take the controls with a certified instructor.

A discovery flight gives you exactly that: a hands-on introduction to flying, a look at our aircraft and facility, and time to ask your instructor about the training ahead. There is no commitment to enroll afterward.

A Clear First Step for Fayetteville's New Pilots

  • Discovery flight recommended before enrolling
  • FAA Medical Certificate required for solo flight
  • Clear student materials list from day one
  • Financing and scholarship options available

New students often ask what they need before training begins. We recommend completing a discovery flight first. You will need a valid FAA Medical Certificate before you fly solo, along with a logbook, a headset, the Gleim student kit, a cellular-capable iPad (6th generation or newer), and sunglasses.

Our Private Pilot program builds the foundation for every rating that follows, and training costs can be planned ahead: Speedway partners with Stratus Financial for financing, and the Speedway Scholarship Fund helps students who need financial assistance.

  • My son went on a discovery flight yesterday. He is 16 and his goal is to become a pilot. He flew with Jordan and he said Jordan was super nice, very informative, and treated him with respect and confidence. He trusted my son to fly the plane for a very long duration of the flight, which my son absolutely loved!! This was the first time my son has ever been in the air, or on a plane!!
